Privacy Policy for TryIt App

TryIt App operates TryIt ("we", "us", "our").

1. Accounts

TryIt requires an account. You create one with an email address and password (or a sign-in link sent to your email). Your email address is stored by our authentication provider to operate your sign-in. We never see or store your password in plain text — it is handled by the authentication system, and password resets are done by email.

2. Information You Provide

• Profile: username, display name, bio, profile photo (avatar), and any social links you add.
• Posts ("Tries"): photos and videos you upload, titles, captions, categories, the date you tried something, and your outcome rating (Must Try, Worth It, Maybe, Not For Me).
• Interactions: reactions, likes, votes on the Try Meter, comments, follows, your Try Crew (Top 8) list, and posts you save to your private "Try Later" list.
• Messages: direct messages you send to other users.
• Reports and blocks: if you report content or block someone, we keep a record so we can moderate the service.

3. Content You Upload (Photos and Videos)

Photos and videos you post, and your avatar, are uploaded to and stored in Supabase cloud storage. Posted media is served to other users of the App. When you share a Try, the App may generate a branded share card image for you; that image is also stored in cloud storage. Do not post photos or videos you do not have the right to share.

4. Information Collected Automatically

• Push notifications: if you enable notifications, a push token is created and stored so we can deliver notifications (mentions, replies, follows, messages).
• Usage data: we keep basic activity data needed for the App to function, such as watch time on videos used to improve the feed.
• Crash and error reports: the App uses Sentry to collect crash logs and error details (such as device type, OS version, and error traces) so we can find and fix problems.

5. Third-Party Services

6. What Other Users Can See

TryIt is a social app. Your profile (username, display name, bio, avatar), your posts, and your public interactions (reactions, likes, comments, follows) are visible to other users as described in the App. Your "Try Later" list, your blocks, and your direct messages are private to you (messages are visible only to you and the person you're talking to). We do not make your email address visible to other users.

7. How We Use Information

To operate the App, show your content to other users, deliver messages and notifications, keep the community safe (moderation, reports, blocks), fix crashes, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

8. Data Retention and Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Profile > Settings > Danger Zone > Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, messages, and related data. If you cannot access the App, email us from the address on your account and we will process the deletion for you. Some data may persist temporarily in backups or where we are required to keep records (for example, moderation reports).

9. Your Choices

You can edit your profile in the App, delete your own posts, save posts to a private list, block other users, and turn off push notifications in your device settings. For access to or deletion of your data beyond what the App offers, contact us by email.

10. Children's Privacy

TryIt is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the App changes. The "Last updated" date above shows the current version.
